Effective date: 20 August 2026
Last updated: 20 August 2026
This Digital Distribution Policy applies to music and other audio releases distributed through JONO Media AB (“JONO”), unless otherwise agreed in writing.
By submitting a release for distribution through JONO, the artist, label or other rights holder (“the Artist”) confirms that they have read and accepted this policy.
1. Distribution
JONO distributes approved releases to digital music services through its distribution partners, including platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and other selected digital services.
JONO decides together with the Artist which releases are included in the collaboration.
For releases distributed through JONO, JONO acts as the exclusive digital distributor during the agreed distribution period. This exclusivity applies only to the specific releases distributed by JONO and does not restrict the Artist from working with other parties for management, booking, promotion, publishing or other services.
2. Ownership and rights
The Artist retains ownership of all copyrights, master recordings, compositions, lyrics, artwork and other intellectual property.
No ownership of the Artist’s master recordings or copyrights is transferred to JONO.
The Artist grants JONO the limited rights necessary to distribute, administer, deliver, promote and account for the releases covered by the collaboration.
3. Artist responsibility
The Artist is responsible for ensuring that all material supplied to JONO may legally be distributed and used.
This includes, where applicable, rights and permissions relating to:
- master recordings and compositions
- lyrics
- artwork, photographs and other visual material
- samples
- featured artists and guest musicians
- producers and other contributors
- artist names, trademarks and other protected material
The Artist is responsible for resolving any claims resulting from material supplied without the necessary rights or permissions.
4. Revenue split
Revenue generated through digital distribution is divided:
Artist: 50%
JONO: 50%
The split is calculated on Net Receipts actually received by JONO from its distribution partner.
Net Receipts means the amount remaining after deduction of directly attributable third-party costs such as distributor fees, platform or retailer deductions, VAT or other applicable taxes, withholding tax, refunds, chargebacks and similar external deductions.
Example:
If JONO receives SEK 10,000 in Net Receipts relating to an Artist’s releases:
Artist receives SEK 5,000
JONO receives SEK 5,000
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the Artist’s own production, recording, mixing, mastering, marketing or other expenses are not deducted from the Artist’s share before the 50/50 split.
5. Publishing and collecting societies
The agreement covers income generated from the distributed master recordings through JONO’s distribution channels.
Songwriting, publishing and collecting-society income, including payments administered through organisations such as STIM, are not included in the 50/50 distribution arrangement.
The Artist remains responsible for registering compositions and other relevant rights with the appropriate organisations.
6. Statements and payments
Accounting follows the reporting schedules used by JONO’s distribution partners.
JONO will provide the Artist with a statement showing the Artist’s share of reported income.
Payment is made after JONO has received the corresponding funds from the distribution partner.
Where applicable, payment is made against an invoice from the Artist, label or other agreed payment recipient.
The payment recipient is responsible for providing correct company, tax, VAT and payment information.
JONO may carry forward balances below SEK 500 to the next accounting period.
Small balances and dormant accounts
JONO may carry forward royalty balances below SEK 500 to future accounting periods.
If an Artist’s accumulated payable balance has remained below SEK 500 for a continuous period of twelve (12) months, JONO is not required to continue issuing regular royalty statements for that account.
The Artist may at any time during this period request a final statement and payment of the outstanding balance, regardless of the amount.
If the Artist does not request payment or otherwise contact JONO within twelve (12) months after the balance has become dormant, the remaining balance may be retained by JONO and applied toward administrative and accounting costs. No further payment obligation shall thereafter remain in respect of that balance.
JONO will, where reasonably possible, use the Artist’s most recently provided contact details for any relevant communication regarding the account.
7. Delivery of material
The Artist must provide complete and correct release material within the deadlines agreed with JONO.
This normally includes:
audio masters
cover artwork
release information and metadata
songwriting and contributor information
release date
artist information
any additional material requested by JONO or the distributor
Incorrect or incomplete material may delay a release.
8. Additional services
Digital distribution does not automatically include graphic design, video production, advertising, social media management, website production, extensive metadata work, PR or other creative or administrative services.
Such services may be provided by JONO under a separate agreement or quotation.
9. Marketing and promotion
JONO may provide advice regarding release planning, presentation and marketing, but digital distribution does not constitute a guarantee of promotional activity, editorial placement, playlist placement or media coverage unless specifically agreed.
10. Content and JONO’s values
Artists working with JONO are not required to share JONO’s Christian faith or values.
JONO nevertheless reserves the right to decline or discontinue distribution of material that, in JONO’s reasonable assessment, is unlawful, infringes third-party rights, violates distributor or platform policies, or is clearly incompatible with JONO’s values.
Where possible, JONO and the Artist will first attempt to resolve such matters in a practical and reasonable way.
11. No guarantee of commercial results
JONO cannot guarantee that a release will generate streams, sales, playlist placements, media attention or any particular level of revenue.
Availability on individual platforms may also be affected by decisions, technical requirements or policies controlled by third-party distributors and digital services.
12. Distribution period and termination
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a release remains under JONO’s distribution for at least twelve (12) months from its first commercial release.
After this initial period, either party may terminate the distribution arrangement with three (3) months’ written notice.
When distribution ends, JONO will cooperate in a reasonable transfer or takedown of the affected releases.
JONO remains entitled to its agreed share of income generated during the period in which the release was distributed through JONO.
Any costs charged by third parties for takedowns, transfers or related administration may be charged to the Artist.
13. Governing law
This policy and any distribution arrangement governed by it shall be interpreted in accordance with Swedish law.
Any dispute should first be resolved through good-faith discussions between JONO and the Artist.
If no agreement can be reached, the dispute shall be handled by a competent Swedish court.
14. Separate agreements
A separate written agreement between JONO and the Artist may supplement or replace parts of this policy.
If a separate signed agreement conflicts with this policy, the separate agreement takes precedence.
